#MiniFestiveBlogBlitz: Poppy’s Christmas Wishes by Annette Hannah

Publisher: Orion Dash
Publication Date: 2 December 2021

2022 has gone by so very quickly! In fact, tomorrow will be a whole year since the publication of Annette Hannah’s first Christmas novel, Poppy’s Christmas Wishes. I’ve known Annette for a few years now, both through our love of book blogging and, more recently, through her work with the Romantic Novelists Association (RNA). As such, I’m delighted to be taking part in today’s mini blog blitz for this lovely festive tale. If you didn’t read it last year, maybe add it to this year’s holiday reading list!

So, what is Poppy’s Christmas Wishes all about…?

What would you wish for if you were granted three wishes?

For the first time she can remember, Poppy is dreading Christmas. Unceremoniously dumped by her boyfriend after moving across the country for him, there’s nothing cheery about the festive season this year.

Dragged to a Christmas ball by best friend Layla, Poppy meets gorgeous actor Gabe, who stars as a genie in a play. When he asks her what three wishes she would make, she realises it’s quite simple: love, a job she’s happy in and, just once in her life, to do something extraordinary.

Gabe and Poppy make a pact to help each other make their dreams come true. As they tick off their wishes, their friendship blossoms… But, as they discover, sometimes, what you want for Christmas isn’t necessarily what you need…

I originally reviewed the book back on 2nd December 2021 and, as a reminder, here’s my original review (if you want to read an extract from the book, see my original post by clicking here):

Poppy’s Christmas Wishes is the third book from author Annette Hannah and her first Christmas book. I absolutely love a heart warming Christmas novel and was therefore very excited to be asked to participate in this blog tour.

This isn’t my first visit to the historic market town of Bramblewood, since it features in Annette’s two earlier novels, Wedding Bells at the Signal Box Cafe (review here) and The Cosy Little Cupcake Van (review here), and it makes an absolutely perfect setting for a Christmas novel, with its abundance of quaint, Tudor-beamed shops, cafes and restaurants all surrounding the market square. I could picture the market place at night, with Christmas lanterns illuminating the fountain whilst snow gently falls. The surrounding countryside sounds equally idyllic, with the meandering river Bram, the village green and the countryside pubs.

Poppy has recently relocated to Bramblewood for love but finds herself single and lonely just before the holiday season. Fortunately her BFF Layla Rose is there to pull Poppy out of her self-wallowing and ensure she has a good Christmas. First stop, the annual Recharge Accountancy Christmas party at the stunning and stately Belvedere Mannor, where Poppy meets her new GBF (either ‘Genie Best Friend’ or ‘Gay Best Friend’ depending on who you ask!) and member of the Bramblewood Amateur Dramatic Society ‘BADS’, Gabe. Gabe is exactly what Poppy needs in her life. He’s kind, creative, fun and quickly pulls her out of her slump. He challenges Poppy and helps her to rebuild the confidence that her ex, Ed, has so badly shaken. If Gabe is really her Genie Best Friend, can he help her Christmas wishes come true…?

The story takes a look at the importance of relationships, both romantic and friendships, whilst introducing the reader to a host of warm and loveable characters. It also shows the importance of self-belief and kindness, a message that seems all to prevalent as we head into the festive season.

Poppy’s Christmas Wishes is warm, amusing and very entertaining. It’s a cosy, festive tale of romance and friendship, guaranteed to melt even the iciest of hearts.

In addition to Poppy’s Christmas Wishes, Annette has published two further books: Wedding Bells at the Signal Box Cafe was her debut novel published in June 2020, and her second novel, The Cosy Little Cupcake Van, was published in March 2021. If you’re looking for heartwarming romance, you’ll love these two books!

Finally, let me tell you a bit more about Annette:

Annette Hannah is a Liver Bird who relocated to leafy Hertfordshire in the 80’s and now lives near a river with her husband, two of their three grown up children and a crazy black cocker spaniel. She writes Romantic comedies in settings inspired by the beautiful countryside around her and always with a nod to her hometown.

She worked in Marketing for many years as a qualified Marketeer which she loved as it tapped into her creative side.

As an avid reader, she began to review the books she read, became a book blogger and eventually plucked up the courage to fulfil her life long dream of writing a book.

For four years she was a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s new writers’ scheme, during which time she wrote a book a year.

After signing a two book deal with Orion Dash in 2020 she graduated to full member of the organisation and is also their Press Officer.

She loves long walks along the river, travelling to far flung places and spending time with her friends and family.
